Aden, NewsYemen, exclusive:

The campaigns to prevent the carrying of arms, which were launched in the capital, Aden, and several liberated southern governorates, were commended by society, in light of the insistence of the security services to continue these campaigns until achieving their goals.

These campaigns came in light of the escalation of societal appeals demanding an end to the killings and targeting of civilians, as a result of the growing phenomenon of carrying weapons and roaming with them within the districts and residential neighborhoods.

The capital, Aden, was proactive in launching an integrated plan involving a number of security services led by the Presidential Storm Forces, which deployed a number of its units in the streets, roundabouts, and entrances to the directorates of the capital, Aden. The forces tightened the inspection procedures and tracked down the armed elements that roam the streets of the city and cause terror and panic among the citizens.

For about a month, the security forces in Aden have been carrying out campaigns to seize and confiscate weapons, amid citizens' commitment to the directives issued to prevent carrying unlicensed weapons and roaming with them in the main streets and inside residential neighborhoods and markets.

Back to life

Great interaction of citizens, activists and media professionals with the campaigns to prevent weapons, whether in Aden or the rest of the liberated southern governorates, amid assurances of the need to continue implementing these important steps that enhance security and stability and maintain public peace. It is also an important step in ending crime, which has recently spread as a result of carrying weapons.

Dr. Hanan Awad, a resident of Al-Buraiqa district, west of Aden, told NewsYemen: The campaign to prevent weapons, which the security forces are carrying out in the streets of Aden, is an important step in order to restore security and safety and end any extraneous phenomena in the city known for peace, calm and stability. Dr. Hanan expressed her happiness with the continuation of the campaign until the end of this phenomenon, which has claimed the lives of many innocent people. She added: In the past, we were afraid to go out to spend any happy times and content ourselves with the necessary trips, for fear of sudden shootings in the streets, markets, and even on public transportation. But with the ongoing intense campaign of Eid al-Adha, we are going out to the markets and shopping centers, and the children do not see the weapons bearers who were roaming the city in a frightening and terrifying manner.

Aden reprises her role

For his part, the security director of the capital, Aden, Major General Mutahar Al-Shuaibi, confirmed that the campaign to prevent weapons in the capital, Aden, has achieved fruitful results since its inception until today, and we warn all violators that the security will not tolerate them, and strict penalties will be imposed on them, and no one will be excluded.

Thanking the citizens for their cooperation with the security of the capital, Aden, as they are an important part of the security system, and without their cooperation, no campaign can be successful, as the citizen played a positive role in this campaign through community awareness, helping the security men, or reporting all the suspects who roam with their weapons in the alleys and streets of the capital.

Major General Al-Shuaibi noted that the campaign continues and will not stop until the full completion of its desired goals, and the return of Aden to its pioneering role, which it was known for many years as the smiling frontier and the city of love and peace.

imposing the prestige of the state

What the checkpoints are doing in terms of searching and examining any pieces of weapons inside vehicles or inside markets and main streets, has restored the spirit of the prestige of the state that many of the people of Aden seek, who reject violence and weapons. During your roaming between the districts of Aden, you see many citizens and motorists who are committed to the security measures and careful inspection procedures, amid calls for the necessity of continuing them to confront the bearers of weapons who threaten social peace.

Citizen Rami Abdullah, a bus driver, told NewsYemen: The campaign to prevent carrying weapons was necessary to address the state of tampering and indiscriminate shooting that claimed many lives, explaining that the implementation of the campaign and its continuity over a month confirms the determination of the security forces to eliminate this phenomenon.

He added: The prestige of the state must be imposed, and the weapon must be in the hands of the police and security. Strict penalties must be imposed on violators, and any seized weapon must be cut off and confiscated in order to deter the remaining elements outside the law and order. He pointed out that everyone is committed to the procedures and the continuation of the campaign and its non-stop so that the murders that we witnessed recently do not recur.

Correct mistakes

The current campaign is a continuation of previous campaigns in the capital, Aden, in the years 2019, 2020, and 2021, in order to confront and eliminate this phenomenon, according to what was reported by the media officer of the Presidential Storm Forces, Captain Antar Al-Shuaibi.

In order to face the obstacles to the success of the campaign, the joint operations issued circulars to cancel previous licenses to carry weapons, as well as to prevent soldiers from roaming with their weapons inside cities and streets, in addition to strict measures that seek to achieve the goals of the campaign.

Captain Al-Shuaibi adds that the next steps will be stricter for violators of directives and circulars, especially with regard to soldiers and members of the security and military forces, whose movements will be scheduled according to specific licenses issued by joint operations. Gradual action will be taken against violators of these lines.
