Aden, NewsYemen, Ammar Ali Ahmed:

With the summer getting hotter every year, scenes of protests are renewed by the people of the capital, Aden, against the deterioration of the electricity service due to the government's continued inability to improve the service since the city's liberation from the Houthi militia 8 years ago.

The electricity crisis in Aden and the rest of the liberated areas is summarized in the fact that the volume of generation from power stations does not cover more than 50% of the volume of demand, which is increasing every year, and most of this generation is done using fuel that is considered the most expensive, which is diesel fuel, which makes the production of kilowatts reach to 350 riyals.

While the Minister of Electricity, Manea Bin Yammine, acknowledges in more than one statement that the main reason for the government's failure in the electricity file is due to the absence of strategic planning represented in the establishment of strategic stations that operate with less expensive fuel, however, many evidences confirm that the electricity crisis remains a crisis of poor management by the government. More than a crisis of capabilities.

The most recent of these evidences is the solar power station provided by the UAE to the city of Aden with a capacity of 120 megawatts, and an agreement to establish it was signed with the government in December last year, to be completed in early June. However, the project is still in the construction phase until today. .

The leader of the Transitional Council, Lutfi Shatara, raised this issue in a tweet on his Twitter account. He attached pictures from the site of the station construction project showing that the construction stages had not been completed, commenting: "A corrupt government must be imprisoned for its crime before it is dismissed."

It is noteworthy that Shatara’s tweet comes one day after the visit of Brigadier General Tariq Muhammad Abdullah Saleh, member of the Presidential Leadership Council and head of the Political Bureau of the Resistance, to inspect the solar electricity generation project for the city of Mocha, provided by the UAE, in conjunction with the arrival of the equipment. for power generation, after 90 percent of the construction works were completed 4 months after the start of work.

Despite the small size of the station project, estimated at 15 megawatts, compared to the Aden station project, the start of it took place more than 4 months after the signing of the Aden station agreement. Sons of Aden, and reinforces the accusations made by activists and leaders of the transitional council for years that the services file is a file for political blackmail.

With the increasing conviction of the validity of these accusations, however, it raises an important question among the people of Aden about the role of the Transitional Council in confronting this political recruitment after it became a partner in the head of the supreme authority (the Presidential Leadership Council) and part of the government with a number of ministers, including the Minister of Electricity, and what it owns. Options are within reach to address the electricity file and alleviate the suffering of the people of the capital, in parallel with the pressure he has been exerting for months to dismiss the government.

On top of these options is strong pressure to accelerate the completion of the solar power plant project and expose the obstructing parties to it, while examining the possibility that the brothers in Saudi Arabia contribute to this project, which is a strategic project, and it can be expanded to reach about 600 megawatts, which is a large number for clean energy that does not cost fuel.

Projects in the event that the Transitional Council succeeds in stopping the tampering and procrastination with it, it will work to stabilize the electricity service to the capital, Aden, during the coming summer at the lowest cost, with the complete dispensation of diesel stations, which will represent a political success for the Transitional Council and a fortification for its public base in the south, and the most important card will fall into the hands of its enemies to use it against it .
