The Al-Kadha-Al-Bireen road project funded by the United Arab Emirates, which was inaugurated by the head of the Political Bureau of the National Resistance and a member of the Presidential Leadership Council, Brigadier General Tariq Saleh, in early October of last year, represents an outlet for more than five million people who have been living under the militia’s siege for nine years.

The project will provide a vital line for the city of Taiz, as it will open the way for the flow of goods and basic commodities, after it relied during the war on a single artery connecting it to the capital, Aden, via the dilapidated Haijat al-Abd road, whose rehabilitation attempts are faltering.

Al-Kadha is considered one of the liberated areas in the Maqbanah district, west of Taiz, and it represents one of the most important rural areas in which the displaced people who fled the Houthi war zones sought refuge, while it represents a link between the city of Taiz and the strategic Al-Mocha district and the coastal strip of the governorate.

strategic importance

The strategic importance of the Al-Kadha-Al-Bireen road is embodied in the fact that it worked to break the siege imposed on the city of Taiz, as it is credited with feeding the city of Taiz with domestic gas and ending the crisis that the people suffered from during the recent period.

Today, the Al-Kadha line is considered the main gate through which goods and basic commodities flow into the city, after years of reliance on the Haijat Al-Abd Al-Jabali line, which faces problems with its eligibility and is subject to cuts from time to time, in addition to the Tur Al-Baha line, in which drivers suffer from security risks that caused it to stop. several times, which had repercussions for the residents of the besieged city of Taiz.

While the line provided a humanitarian relief for the suffering of the residents of the city of Taiz, citizens believe that it provided them with an outlet to get out of the state of repression they experienced during the years of war and in light of the years-long siege of Iran, as they are no longer separated from the coasts of Taiz governorate by only two hours.

In this context, citizen Amjad Al-Badani says: "The path of toil represents a living outlet for us, especially as we find today the coasts of Taiz governorate at a close distance from us, after we lived through years of repression inside the besieged city."

Al-Badani added, in the context of his interview with "Newsyemen": "We feel great reassurance when we see gas tankers flowing through this strategic artery, after a long suffering that we lived as residents, and we fear that domestic gas will be cut off from time to time."

He pointed out that: "The toil line contributed greatly to overcoming the gas crisis that lasted for months before Ramadan, and ended with the entry of the first tankers through this important artery."

He continued, "Today, goods and merchandise flow through Al-Kadha Road, which connects our city to the coastal strip and opens an important gateway for import and entry of goods through the strategic port of Mocha."

And he added, "The city of Taiz will not remain dependent on circumstances and will not be broken by the Houthi siege, after Brigadier General Tariq, under the auspices of the UAE, succeeded in breaking the siege and opening this important artery."

He concluded by saying: "Today I drive my car, and it does not take me more than two hours to reach the city of Mocha, which we have been deprived of since the beginning of the war. The road has become easy and short, and there is no longer anything that prevents us from traveling and moving freely."

International specifications

The Al-Kadha-Al-Bireen Road project is based on international specifications and high quality, while work continues on it to be completed under the direct follow-up of Brigadier General Tariq Saleh, who receives daily reports on the progress of work.

In this context, the deputy project manager, Eng. Moaz Al-Soufi, says: "There is great care to implement the agreements concluded in the contract, in accordance with international specifications, according to HTML and Ashto, while periodic tests are conducted in the framework of work."

Al-Soufi explained, in the context of his interview with "Newsyemen": "The length of the project is 14 kilometers from the concrete ferry number one, all the way to the Al-Wazia junction, and we have succeeded in completing an estimated rate of about 39.9% of the total percentage."

He added, "We have finished the rock cutting, as well as the earthwork, and we have very large construction works, including 68 flood ferries, of which five are concrete ferries. The smallest ferry reaches four to five openings, while the largest ferry reaches nine openings."

And he continued: "Currently, we have completed about 24 stone ferries and two concrete ferries, and we will start during the next week, and the next week, the process of laying the bascores and asphalt layer for a distance of three kilometers, in which we have completed the construction works, and the backfilling has been done behind the ferries with international specifications and quality."

He pointed out, "There is a target to thwart the project, but work is being carried out according to close follow-up by Brigadier General Tariq and the management of the executing company, which prompts us to increase the pace of work."

He concluded: "Brigadier General Tariq Saleh follows up the project directly and receives periodic reports on a daily basis on the nature of work progress, while the people are very optimistic about this project."
