Joint military and security units of the southern forces managed to clear the last major strongholds of Al-Qaeda in Abyan Governorate, in the south of the country.

Al-Yafei added that many terrorist elements were killed during the military campaign after the attack and control of their hideouts in the mountains surrounding Wadi Al-Khayala by units of the brigade forces backed by the Security Belt emergency forces, indicating that the remnants of terrorist elements took their dead and wounded through the high mountains towards the Ahwar valleys.
The commander of the First Brigade affirmed the support and backing of the continuation of the military campaign, tracking down the remnants of terrorist elements, and securing all areas surrounding the valley and mountains within the security and military operations in Abyan until their terrorism is eliminated.
